Show-Stopping Sparkles!

Hello :)

Christmas is on it's way along with lots of festive parties, and that only means one thing ...SPARKLESSSS!  This is definitely my favourite time of year and I just can't wait to get all dolled up at any given opportunity.   Sparkles are everywhere on the high street just now and I have picked my Top 5 dresses that will be sure to get you noticed for all the right reasons at these Christmas parties.  Dazzle this season and transform into a human disco ball with sparkles, sparkles and more sparkles!

I know that at this time of the year everyone is a bit too poor for their own good from buying presents for our family and friends so iv looked especially for dresses under £30.  No more feeling guilty about buying for ourselves! Yipeee

This sequin Peplum dress from Missguided is only £23.39 reduced in the sale and it comes in 4 different colours of plum, gold, black and blue.  A perfect peplum for everyone this Christmas.

This beautiful navy and silver dress is a bargain in the New Look sale reduced from £59.99 to £30.00. It also has beading as well as sequins, what more could a girl want!

Gold and silver sequins mixed together in this classic cap sleeved dress from River Island at a merry price of £25.00!

This one shoulder sequin body-con dress from Boo Hoo is only £25.00 and comes in both gold and silver sequins

Love this sequin contrast shift dress with an emerald top. This shows a different style to most of the other versions on the high and is a good option to wear if wearing top to toe sequins is a little daunting.  Only £27.99 from Missguided.

So ladies, steal the spotlight this party season in a sparkly number like every fashionista should!
Have a fabulous Christmas and a happy new year!!

Chanel: Paris-Edimbourg pre-fall collection

Hello :)

Ladies, I nearly spat out my tea in shock when I first heard that Chanel were holding there legendary Metier d’Art fashion extravaganza in none other than LINLITHGOW.  Apart from myself being extremely jealous of the people that saw this breathtaking show, I was also very proud to say that by being Scottish I could maybe by classed as involved in some minute way.  The show clearly celebrated the Scottish heritage and years of intertwining with the country and the designer, with many of the designs featuring tartan, highland colours, tweed and Fair Isle knitwear.  Extremely talented craftsmen were also involved in the pre-fall collection, titled Paris-Edimbourg, such as Lemarie for feathers, Desrues for the jewels, maison Lesage for lace embroidery and the Scottish cashmere company, Barrie, for the knitwear.  Here are a few photographs of my favourites from the collection.

If you aren't lucky enough to have spare cash to splash out on these amazing designs, don't worry,  I have been doing my research to find affordable, high street, copy-cat versions of the themed collection.

This cream frill dress from River Island replicates the high necked, frilly and feminine style of many of the lace dresses and shirts featured in the Chanel collection.  This dress is only £15.00 reduced in the sale so is a cheap way of incorporating the quirky style into your wardrobe.

This navy blue boucle cardigan is similar to the structured shape of the knitted cover ups in this collection.  The deep highland colour also replicates the shades used and at only £22.99 from New Look, it's an easy and effective way to update your outfit to suit Chanel's pre-fall designs.

These checked cigarette trousers from Topshop at £40.00, are perfect for capturing the Scottish heritage style that's portrayed in the Chanel show.  This bold print is great for the confident fashionistas out there, however if you feel they resemble more of your grandads golfing trousers then opt for a more subtle print with faded hues.

Well I don't know about you but i'm feeling all patriotic from that Scottish heritage fashion, so ... Haste ye back ladies!

Styling the Royal Baby Bump

Hello :)

With the recent announcement of Kate Middleton's pregnancy I feel it's fair to say I am oh so very excited for a royal baby! I am however, already envious of the baby due to them having an opportunity to play dress up in Kate's amazing wardrobe.  As we all know, Kate's style is immaculate and always classy with her regularly wearing elegant designs from Mulberry, Temperley London, Reiss and one of her favourite designers, Jenny Packham, to name a few.  I specifically love the beautiful printed dress by Singapore designer, Prabal Gurung that Kate recently wore in Singapore.  This floral mirrored dress is a slightly different choice for the duchess as she normally opts for the designs of less edgy designers.  This choice was however, a clear hit with her fans as the online retailer MyHabitcom sold out of this wool and silk dress within an hour of her being papped, despite the $599 price tag.  The big question is however, what is Kate going to wear with her growing baby bump? I hope Kate continues to mix designer and high street looks throughout her pregnancy to help us believe that she still is human after all.  Maternity retailers over the country will no doubt be praying for the same due to the success that MyHabit.com gained from her loyal fashion followers.  Anyway ladies, I suppose we will just have to wait and see what this royal baby bump will be wearing in the coming months, watch this space!

Recent Buys

Hello :)

Since realising my backdated SAAS payments went into my bank account I feel a bit guilty to say that I took full advantage and went a bit wild in the shops! Oooooh well, I just couldn't help myself.  Anyway I love my little purchases so much I thought I would share my buys with you ladies.  Here is what I sacrificed eating proper food for a week for, I hope you enjoy as much as I do!

Fell in love with this dress from ZARA as soon as I seen it so I just had no option but to buy it.  It's such a flattering fit and a classy length compared to the other body-con dresses on the high street just now and to make it even better it was only £29.99! My search for that perfect fitting dress is officially over all thanks to
ZARA.

I also bought this beautiful statement necklace from ZARA to team with the green body-con.  I am so obsessed with statement jewellery right now and this tribal necklace ticks all my boxes for only £19.99.

I also bought this classic sheer white shirt as I realised I had a few variations of this style but with added prints or lace and I really just wanted a plain shirt.  This garment is a wardrobe staple for only £14.99 from H&M.

Also from H&M  I got these faux leather trousers for only £24.99.  I love this leather trend that is all over the shops right now but didn't want a leather skater skirt that everyone seems to have so I got these as an alternative.  I will team them with a classic top and statement jewellery for a night out when I'm too scared to face the cold and get my legs out!

Lastly, I bought this little belt again from H&M for only £6.99.  I love the combination of tough studs and the acid bright pink colour to create a focal point to any outfit.  On the website it is in the sale at only £3.99! So if your looking to buy this I would order online as it's still £6.99 in store.  I wish I knew this before I bought it, silly me!

Hope you enjoyed a little peak into my recent buys!

Chloe Jade Green for Topshop

Hello :)

I just had a little nosy at Chloe Jade Green’s latest shoe collection for Topshop and I am in love! With so many styles from sky-high heels, rock chick biker boots to girly little ballerina flats, there is that perfect shoe for every shoe-loving girl in this fashion forward collection.  Chloe Green mixes girly touches with an element of grungy rock to provide a high fashion luxe twist on her original line for the fashion chain.  The statement jade green leather soles, which were featured in her previous range, have been reworked to show an intricate charm print on the sole of every shoe.  This quality touch has been inspired by the trademark Louboutin red soled heels, with Chloe revealing she included this to honour her love of the iconic designs.   These statement green soles add a feel of individuality that is guaranteed to get you noticed for all the right reasons this party season.    Although these shoes are on the little bit of the pricey side, I thought a perfect way to get round that guilty feeling is to ask good old Santa Claus for a pair of these beauties! So ladies, get adding your favourite designs onto your Christmas list and keep your fingers and toes crossed that your wishes will come true, I know I will!

Here's the link to the collection to make your life that little bit easier, happy shopping girls!

Oxblood: This Season's Hottest Colour

Hello :)

Oxblood was all over the Fall 2012 runways recently and is set to be big news this season, with designers such as Louis Vuitton and Madewell all jumping on the oxblood band wagon.  This deep rich colour is dark and moody while keeping the overall look sophisticated, edgy and luxe.  Being a jewelled tone, this look will continue throughout the winter seasons so if you’re looking for an investment buy, oxblood is the way to go!  This is the hottest hue to have in your wardrobe right now, with many celebrities already sporting the look with style icon, Olivia Palermo, pulling off a beautiful velvet oxblood playsuit.  As this colour is taking over everything, from boots to dresses to bags, there is a way to incorporate it into any of your looks this fall.  I have narrowed down my favourite oxblood pieces at affordable prices to give inspiration on how to wear this seasons hottest colour.

Pretend your Olivia Palermo in this beautiful copycat version of her playsuit above.  This crushed velvet midi dress is only £34 from Topshop and is a perfect investment piece.  Wear this number with platforms and statement jewellery for cocktails with the girls or dress it down with flat ankle booties and a chunky knit for day, fabulous!

Feast your eyes on this cute red colour blocked clutch at a price of £24.99 from New Look.  This photograph doesn't really show it but it's actually a large, attention grabbing, oversized clutch that will looking amazing when worn on a night on the tiles! The chunky buckle and faux leather straps give it that tough edge.

Absolutely LOVE these dark red zip side boots from river island! At only £40 they are a great option for that perfect winter boot that will last all season, definitely on the top of my hit list for when I get paid.

These oxblood high waist jodhours are an absolute steal from Boohoo for only £15! Throw them on with a cosy knit for a daytime winter look.

Copycat Coat

Hello :)

It's getting FREEZING here in Aberdeen recently so I decided I just had no choice, I had to go out and buy myself a new winter coat (not that I was overly against the idea of having a reason to go on a shopping spree).  While I was out searching the high street stores I came across this beautiful one from Miss Selfridge that I instantly fell in love with.  The price however, made that love at first sight moment a bit sour! At £85.00, I felt it was a bit pricey for my dwindling funds and pay day was just too far away.  Thankfully I had a lightbulb moment and thought if I could find a similar style of coat and bought a fur collar, I could replicate this look for a cheaper price.  That is ladies, where I came across this coat in H&M for a bargain price of £24.99 and this fur collar at a price of £12.99.  By pairing them and wearing both together I have made my own cheaper version of the Miss Selfridge look for an altogether price of £37.98!  Long story short, my advice to you girls is to replicate expensive pieces and construct these looks yourself to save yourself pennies.
